"Reign" Episode 4 of Season 3 is titled "The Price" which shows just how much a country loses with the death of its king.
In the fourth installment of "Reign's" third season, Mary receives word from her mother that the English is building up its army in Scotland. Marie de Guise urgently tells her daughter that supplies are running low and there is no way to restock because all entry points have been cutoff. She says the only way to save Scotland is for France to send immediate help.
In a bid to show Elizabeth that he is still in control, Francis acts swiftly on the news about Scotland and decides to send France's finest warships to aid their beleaguered ally. His advisers tried to talk him out of such a hasty decision but the dying king will hear none of their arguments.
Meanwhile, while Francis thinks Elizabeth is out to test his power, in England, Don Carlos of Spain arrives to visit and court Elizabeth. She is not yet sold on the idea but her counselor reminded her about Francis' impending death which could pave the way for Mary to forge an alliance with Spain by marrying Don Carlos. She agrees to see the Spaniard and at least find out more about him.
Catherine sees Lola in her chambers getting ready to go on a honeymoon trip with Narcisse and they chat. Lola tells her to stop threatening her and just as she is about to tell Catherine a message, Narcisse arrives and whisks her away. Lola then wonders and tells her husband why Catherine would not admit making the threats. Narcisse just tells her that Catherine has a battle she needs to fight and is looking for support from the regency. He hushes her talk and tells her to be ready for their honeymoon instead.
