Pete Sampras Sells Lake Sherwood Mansion: Purchase Price Not Disclosed

Tennis legend Pete Sampras and wife Bridgette Wilson-Sampras recently sold their massive modern mansion in the coveted Lake Sherwood neighborhood of Thousand Oaks. The final purchase price was not disclosed though it was last publicly listed in July at $19.95 million.

The initial asking price for the property, when Sampras first deciding on selling it in 2010, was more than $25 million. It was then taken off the Multiple Listing Service this summer. The property includes a contemporary main home, a guesthouse, a detached workout center seven bedrooms, 12 bathrooms and 16,177 square feet of living space. The main house covers an area of 13,000 square feet. It also includes a game room, a theatre, a pool and a separate poker room. Outside, the property rounds out with stone-lined paths and fountains, rolling lawns and a beautiful tennis court.

Sampras announced his retirement in 2002. He began his professional career in 1998 and for a very long time held the record of having won the most number of Grand Slams titles - 14 in all. This record was broken by Roger Federer who has won 16 Grand Slams in total. His seven Wimbledon singles championships is an Open Era record shared with Federer, while Sampras' five US Open singles titles is an Open Era record shared with both Federer and former World No. 1 player Jimmy Connors. Sampras is the last American male to win Wimbledon (2000) and the ATP World Tour Finals (1999).
