One Direction Split: Louis Tomlinson Breaks Silence on Zayn Malik’s Real Reason for Leaving the Band

Louis Tomlinson of One Direction has finally opened up about the real reason behind Zayn Malik's departure from the band.

Tomlinson candidly answered questions regarding Malik's exit in an interview by Sunday Times Style magazine. The 23-year-old 1D member openly admitted that out of everyone in the group, he was the most affected by Malik's decision to leave. The band member added that "he wanted to be happy and he wasn't," pertaining to his former bandmate.

"Everything had always been good and then something bad happens and you have to make decisions, you have to work out what you want, and it makes you really know what you want, and we all knew we wanted this," Tomlinson disclosed to the magazine. Still he considered it a good thing that Malik left before the band could make their new album.

Liam Payne, another One Direction member, added there were tell-tale signs that Malik would leave so it did not come as a surprise when the erstwhile bandmate broke the news.

It will be recalled that Malik announced his departure from One Direction in March, saying he just wanted to be a "normal 22-year-old." Following that he had a public falling out with Louis Tomlinson over his friendship with Naught Boy, who also happens to be a musician, as reported by New Magazine.

On Oct. 31, Saturday, One Direction wrapped up their "On The Road Again Tour" which served as their last gig together before they go on a long hiatus, according to Heatworld. The members reiterated that they will not split up, and that they will just take some time off from working non-stop for five years since their band was formed.

Zayn Malik, on the other hand, is planning a big tour to promote his debut album as a solo artist. He is reportedly camping outdoors in a tent to work on his new recording, which is yet to be titled. The new solo artist is said to be excited to debut his songs sans former One Direction bandmates.
