General Hospital Cast & Spoilers: Jason Thompson Confirms Exit; Tristan Rogers Returns

Jason Thompson has personally and officially confirmed rumors about his exit from the daytime soap "General Hospital."

Jason Thompson yesterday posted a statement on his Instagram page, saying, "I have made the difficult decision to bid farewell to a character I've loved playing for over 10 years. It was not an easy decision but I feel like it's time to hang up Dr. Patrick Drake's white coat and scrubs."

He then thanked Frank Velentini, Vicki Dummer and Paul Lee for their support and understanding. He also said thanks to ABC, the soaps crew, producers, directors, writers and cast mates, as well as his fans.

He added, "General Hospital changed my life and I have you to thank for that. I am forever grateful for your love and support and for embracing me and this character all these years. I mean these words from the bottom of my heart: GH is family to me, and I will miss you all dearly."

According to rumors, Thompson will be joining "The Young and The Restless" as Billy Abbott, replacing Burgess Jenkins.

Meanwhile, We Love Soaps reported that Tristan Rogers is set to return to Port Charles as Robert Scorpio come December.

GH executive producer Frank Valentini on Thursday announced, "Scorpio is such a beloved legacy character who evokes a sense of nostalgia and I know the fans have been patiently waiting for Tristan's return. I share their sentiments and enthusiasm and that of our entire GH team in welcoming him home. It's been a fantastic week of casting announcements for GH, but it's not over yet."

Rogers said, "I am delighted to be visiting my GH family once again and look forward to what Robert Scorpio has in store."

Rogers was last seen in "General Hospital" in January last year as Colin Atkinson.
