'Guardians Of The Galaxy 2' News, Casts, Updates: Mattew McConaughey Rejects Phase 3 Villain Role?

"Guardians of The Galaxy 2" of the Marvel Cinematic Universe wanted to get Matthew McConaughey for a major villain role but it is reported that the actor turned down the offer.

Back in May, McConaughey revealed that he was reading scripts for both Marvel and DC Comics movies and recently, he allegedly turned down the role as a leading villain for the "Guardians of The Galaxy 2." Because of this, the search of the part that McConaughey rejected is still currently in progress, Variety reported.

No official reason was given by McConaughey for his rejection but his busy schedule could be one reason why he is unable to work with Marvel. The actor has both "Gold" and "The Free State of Jones" for in post-production, he has two voice roles in production and his film, "The Sea of Trees" is not yet released.

Rumors reveal that the star was suppose to play the role of Norman Osborn, the secret identity of the Green Goblin but he was never in talks with being Green Goblin, Movie Pilot revealed. Instead, he was actually offered for a "mysterious out of this world" character.

Meanwhile, newbie Pom Klementieff was casted for an unknown role and would be joining Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana and David Bautista for the movie which is scheduled to start production sometime early next year since they are targeting to release it on May 5, 2017 – just in time Cinco De Mayo.

With the casting announcements slowly surfacing, it is possible that fans will get to know about McConaughey's definitive decision on the matter since the report might merely be an "insider knowledge" that is speculated as a whisper campaign to increase interest for "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" or it could also be a way to bring the actor's attention to a role he wasn't offered yet, Cinema Blend reported.
