Real Estate Horrors: ‘Portal to Hell’ Indiana Home Story Revisited

As Halloween draws near, let us revisit one of the most documented horror and exorcism stories that happened in a humble home on Carolina Street in Gary, Indiana.

The story about the exorcism of Latoya Ammons have shocked the world in 2012. According to previous reports, the demon haunting and possession was caused by their house which happens to be a 'Portal to Hell.'

The Indiana Star has acquired and posted a detailed 800-page official record which stated the actual accounts that happened during the bizarre supernatural event.

According to the report, Ammons, together with her three children and her mother Rosa Campbell, moved in the rental house at Carolina Street in Gary, Indiana on November 2011.

Weird things started to happen on December of the same year. Large black horseflies kept swarming the house's screened-in porch, even though it was the start of winter.

"This is not normal," Campbell said. "We killed them and killed them and killed them, but they kept coming back."

Following the horseflies, the family also started to hear heavy footsteps from the basement stairs, and the door at the top of the staircase began creaking open.

About 2 a.m. of March 10, 2012, Ms. Campbell ran towards the room where Ammons, along with her daughter and some of their house guests, were staying, after hearing Ammons' scream. There she saw her 12-year-old granddaughter levitating above the bed, unconscious.

Ammons tried to get help from two clairvoyants whose advice worked for three days, but then things got worse.

The youngest son of Ammons, seven during that time, started talking to a boy that could only be seen by him. The invisible boy reportedly described how it felt to be killed.

Terrified, Ammons called on the doctor's help. According to the reports, Ammons' son started to curse the doctor in demonic voices and was lifted and thrown into the wall with nobody touching him.

Someone also called the Department of Child Services for fear that Ammons was hurting her children. A representative from the DCS and a registered nurse, together with Campbell, brought the boys to a small room for an interview.

Things started to get eerie when the youngest son stared at his brother and growled saying, "It is time to die. I will kill you."

What happened next gave the representative and the nurse a rattling experience. In the accounts of the nurse, the 9-year-old had a "weird grin" and walked backward up a wall to the ceiling. He then flipped over Campbell, landing on his feet. He never let go of his grandmother's hand.

Priest Mike Maginot was the one who did an exorcism for the family.

"This was different. It all started when they moved into that house," Maginot said. Although there has not been any supernatural incidents with the present owner of the house, Maginot still issued a warning.

"There is a danger," said Maginot. "Because I did have to, in fact, perform an exorcism on someone that went in there. It will become one of the most notorious sites in America."
