Samsung Building New Headquarters at Silicon Valley (PHOTOS)

Tech Giant Samsung is all set to break ground on the construction of its brand new headquarters in Silicon Valley, California, making it the latest addition to the growing tech hub. It will now be joining some of its rivals like Apple, Google and Facebook, who have already started building head offices in the area.

According to Business Insider, Samsung's new headquarters are coming up at the intersection of North First and East Tasman Drive in San Jose. The campus has been designed by NBBJ Architects and the project is slated to be completed by 2015.

The campus will comprise of a 10-story building, an eight-story parking space and an amenity pavilion. The main office building will house around 2000 employees who will be divided into the Research and Development department and the sales department. Other amenities of the campus will include a Samsung expo-centre, dining and fitness facilities and a lot of green space.

The building will also be an energy efficient tower with rooftop array solar panels, a glass facade and windows that will allow ample natural light inside the structure.

According to NBBJ Official Website:

The design includes a white metal, glass and terracotta exterior; a parking structure covered in a folding green-colored wall; and courtyards that include fitness facilities, artwork, and cafes - some of which will be open to the public. The tower, with its height and unique form, will create a powerful brand image for Samsung.

Samsung has been giving fierce competition to other tech giants. More recently, in a move to beat Apple's "Imagine" stores, Samsung launched its retail boutique, "Experience"  at 1400 Best Buy outlets in America. It also recently opened the Samsung Strategy and Innovation Centre on Sand Hill Road, Menlo Park, California.

The new headquarters is not only the company's way to fight competition but also a move to establish itself as a tech innovator and transform its products while partnering with other tech entrepreneurs, reports TechCrunch.com.
