6 Ways to Make Your Home a Favorite Hang-out for Friends

Seeing your group of friends regularly or occasionally would require a place for you to hang out in. As that space should offer comfort and convenience that will make everybody at ease, don't you sometimes wish that place is your own home? Apartment Therapy gives some ways on how you can turn your home into that favorite hang-out.

1.    Make your home a  comfortable place for different types of people

Different people can have different types of environments where they feel secure. There are those who love to curl up in a cozy sofa, while others find a too soft seat to be disarming. Some people love perching high on top of stools while others like to stay grounded on a pillow on the floor.

2.    Adjust  your space to suit the subject of the hang out

Consider the kind of hang-out or activity you are trying to start and think of the important physical elements needed to exist to make it the kind of place people might want to linger in.

3.    Don't embarrass them

You will have a hard time convincing people to frequent your place if they are not at ease, more so if they feel embarrassed and uncomfortable in your space.

4.    Have something to do and consider a theme

Even if you are expecting  a  chat or a  stimulating intellectual discourse, you want to offer your guests an option in case the conversation lulls or to entice  shy folks into coming over and have  something to do with their hands as they get comfortable in your place. You can have board games around, interesting books, movies and accessories to be observed. Having a theme that can get your friends excited about participating in and inspiring them to create costumes, share their favorite media or prepare snacks is another effective way.

5.    Don't hover or fret

People can sometimes feel and pick up your feelings and energy when you host. If you are nervous - hovering over people will also make your guests feel nervous, and that might create an uncomfortable environment. On the other hand, if you give release a carefree vibe, it can make your guests at ease and create the kind of hangout space you're looking for.

6.    Invite them over

Sometimes you won't be able to start a hang out tradition if you don't invite people over. So go ahead, let them know you want them around.  You may also suggest to your close friends that you want to their visit to be a regular thing. Consider also their input on what else you can do to make your home the kind of place they'd come back to again and again.
