Michael Jordan Slashes Price of His Chicago Mansion by $8 Million

Legendary basketball player Michael Jordan slashed down the asking price of his Chicago mansion by $8 million. The NBA sportsperson listed the mansion for sale in Feb. 2012 at $29 million and has now reduced the price to an affordable $21 million.

The 9 bedroom, 15 bathroom mansion measures up to 32,683 square feet and was built in 1995. The house includes three climate-controlled garages that can fit up to 15 cars, a pool with a brilliant sculpture design and a basketball complex that features "cushioned hardwood flooring and competition-quality high intensity lighting."

The listing of the property on Realtor.com reads:

Elegance and utmost privacy abound at this perfectly situated, privately gated estate nestled on over seven acres. With outstanding attention to detail, function, and style, this home is as comfortable as it is elegant. Luxurious entertaining areas and grounds create an absolutely stunning contemporary home with scale and finishes to perfection. Sold furnished with exclusions. All showings and access to website with additional photos must provide verified financial references in advance.

When the property was first put for sale, the listing broker claimed that Jordan was selling the house as he wanted to down-size his assets. Jordan has long been associated with Chicago after he became a household name while playing for the Chicago Bulls as their shooting guard. Jordan is currently a majority owner and chairman of the Charlotte Bobcats. His recent marriage to girlfriend Ariel Prieto in April has been cited as another possible reason why the former basketball player is looking to close the Chicago chapter in his life and move on to new beginnings.
