Spotify is one of the largest and most popular music streaming app with over 75 million active users. The application provides free music streaming which contains more than 30 million tracks. It may be difficult for a certain song to hit the million mark as it has more than 30 million other competitors. Ed Sheeran's song however was able to reach the milestone.

As per the Celebrity Net Worth, Spotify announced that earlier this week, Ed Sheeran's "Thinking Out Loud" is the first song to hit half a billion plays in Spotify's history. They then added that it reached the half a billion mark on Monday.

Spotify then dished out several listening habits that the subscribers exhibit which involved Ed Sheeran which includes:

-One in four Spotify users listens to Sheeran at least once a month.

-Sheeran's music is in roughly 38 million Spotify playlists.

-Sheeran's songs have been streamed roughly 2.9 billion times on Spotify, which makes him the second most streamed artist on Spotify, behind Eminem.

-Roughly 19 million Spotify users listen to Sheeran every month, which makes him the third most listened to artist on Spotify, trailing only "The Weeknd" and "Calvin Harris."

During one of his press release the "Thinking Out Loud" singer expressed his gratitude towards his fans and the people who used the song for their weddings or their date soundtrack.

"Being the first artist to hit that milestone is amazing. Thanks to all the people who use this as a wedding song, soundtrack to a date, and as a way to woo someone into a Netflix-and-chill situation."

As per The Richest, Sheeran now has an estimated net worth of $60 million. He started his singing career when he moved to London back in 2008. His independent play entitled "No. 5 Collaborations Project" then caught the attention of the famous Elton John and Jamie Foxx. He then signed a contract with Asylum Records in 2011, in which he released his first album which became an instant hit.
