'Skype' News: Messaging Tool Now Allows Anyone to Join a Chat Even Without Installed App

With just a direct link, anyone with a Skype account can invite anyone to join a Skype conversation now.

The emergence of Whatsapp, Google Hangouts, and Viber has lowered the usage of Skype in the current years. The direct links that can be initiated with anyone with a Skype account is the answer that Skype has thought to make the program accessible to everyone.

Best of all, anyone can join the chat as a guest from their computer using Skype for Web and enjoy one-to-one or group instant messaging, voice and video calls," Skype wrote in a blog post.

No downloads needed, no apps,  just internet. Users will be able to share a direct link to join their conversation with their friends and family. For those with a Skype name and a Skype mobile app, they can share a conversation link from Skype for iPhone, iPad and Android just by clicking the link. While for those with no Skype account, they will be able to sign in as guest by typing in their name and clicking "Join" to the chat.

Skype said that the link-sharing function should be available in the US and the UK now and throughout the world in a few days. Sharing a mobile conversation will be added soon, said Microsoft.

To know if the option is available to you, launch the latest version of Skype (for Windows, Mac or Web) then click +New to start your chat and generate your unique and shareable link.

Skype has been introducing new stuffs to its users. Last month, it introduced Emojis that are short clips from movies and TV shows which included snippets from Bridesmaids, Pitch Perfect, Despicable Me, Jurassic Park and The Muppets. Moreover, Skype also pushed its translator service that is available for Windows 8.1 and 10 on the Skype app.

This new feature will that has a taste of TinyChat is so handy that people will most likely patronize it without worrying about whether or not the other person on the line has the app or the program installed in their mobile phones or computers, respectively.
