Airbnb to Send Two People at a Spooky Underground Graveyard in Paris for Free

With Halloween nearing, Airbnb is offering an opportunity for two lucky people for a one night stay in a spooky place -- the world's largest grave in Paris.

The underground graveyard in Paris is 65 feet below the city. The Catacombs of Paris (Catacombes de Paris) is home to the remains of millions of the city’s dead, who were moved there in the 18th and 19th centuries when the cemeteries were closed due to public health risks, Design Taxi wrote.

In the Catacombs are centuries-old remains of millions of Parisians, including the famous literary names Jean de la Fontaine, Charles Perrault and François Rabelais, Mirror reported. It is located south of the former city gate.

Those who will stay in the queer place are warned not to summon bad spirits and not to follow ghosts in the galleries because they might not be able to get out anymore, Airbnb said.

The offer of Airbnb is only good for one night that includes a private tour in the labyrinth of bones and skulls. After the tour is a dinner with violin accompaniment. At bedtime, scary catacomb legends will be read to the pair to make sure they will get the most unforgettable night ever. At dawn, they will be the first people to ever wake up in the Catacombs -- if they will get some sleep.

“Our travelers are always on the lookout for original experiences and what could be more unique for Halloween than spending a night among the bones and ghosts below Paris," Nicolas Ferrary, France Country Manager of Airbnb said.

Around 500,000 people would visit the Catacombs in a year, but the Airbnb offering will be the first time that people were allowed to sleep inside it. Airbnb guarantee safety of the participants as well as the preservation of the area.

Anyone is welcome to join the contest that will be listed on Airbnb on Oct. 20, with a maximum of two people to win.
