New ‘Winds of Winter’ Release Update: Book Likely Coming Early 2016

The much-anticipated "Winds of Winter" book is likely to be released early 2016 according to new information.

As per Independent.co.uk, a Polish website PIESN LODU I OGNIA, recently reported that the translator, "Michał Jakuszewski confirmed that he was asked by the Zysk publishing house to save his time by the end of the year for translating the Winds of Winter, and although the translator seemed to be a bit skeptical about this news, it is undoubtedly a glimmer of hope for many of us."

Last month, another rumor came out about a 2016 release date for the next "A Song of Ice and Fire" book when Alejo Cuervo said in an interview with a local radio station, El món a RAC1, that the book six, "is planned for next year." Cuervo, who personally knows George R.R. Martin, is an editor for Spanish publisher Ediciones Gigamesh which owns the rights to the books.

"They have promised us that they will give us the [Spanish] manuscript before the release date in English, but it won't be a big difference (between the two dates)," Cuervo said. The radio host pressed on, "But it will also be during the next year for sure, won't it?"

"Yes. Well, for sure... unless a meteorite falls," answered Cuervo.

If the book is targeted to be sent to international translators and editors by end of 2015 at the earliest, fans would be happy to know that there's much progress. It looks like Martin is doing his best to finish the book, hopefully before the premiere of "Game of Thrones" Season 6.

Martin earlier told Entertainment Weekly, "Maybe I'm being overly optimistic about how quickly I can finish, but I cancelled two convention appearances (San Diego Comic Con and World Convention), I'm turning down a lot more interviews - anything I can do to clear my decks and get this done."

Meanwhile, George R.R. Martin slammed a round of rumors about a "Game of Thrones" movie. In his LiveJournal site, he said, "It would still be cool, and I'd still love to see it... but nothing has changed since the last round of rumors. I am still writing THE WINDS OF WINTER. David & Dan are still filming season six."
