Nina Dobrev Refuses to Work With Ian Somerhalder; Says Her ‘TVD’ Chapter is Closed

Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder may no longer reunite in the small screens despite many fans remaining hopeful that the former real-life couple will be back together. In a recent interview, the 26-year-old actress revealed that she is completely done with her role as Elena Gilbert in The CW series, "The Vampire Diaries."

Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev were once everyone's picture perfect couple. The stars went from reel to real on the set of "The Vampire Diaries." While the couple has called it quits and moved on from their respective partners, many fans remained hopeful that the two stars would at least reunite in front of the cameras.

This hope was crushed when Dobrev announced her departure from TVD in Season 6, but fans remained hopeful after the cast and crew of The CW series, including Somerhalder, seemingly hinted on Dobrev's return in the future. However, in a recent interview with EW (via Celeb Dirty Laundry), Dobrev revealed that she is done playing the role of Elena Gilbert.

"That chapter is closed, sadly - bittersweet," Dobrev said.

Dobrev's character was not killed off in "The Vampire Diaries," which left several chances for her to return to the series. Her possible return to the series allegedly made Somerhalder's wife, Nikki Reed extremely paranoid of the former couple's reunion in front of and behind the cameras.

Several reports also hinted on her return, as the actress did not seem to capture the same attention from fans and viewers when she made her debut on the big screens. However, it looks like Dobrev is done and over with her vampire role.

Dobrev is all set to star in the movie, "Arrivals," Deadline exclusively reported. Dobrev will be playing the role of an American flight attendant named Izzy, opposite to Asa Butterfield's role, Calvin.

"Arrivals" will also star "Game of Thrones" actress Maisie Williams. Peter Hutchings will be directing from a screenplay written by Fergal Rock.
