8 DIYs for Redoing Your Bathroom without Remodeling

Aside from your bedroom, the bathroom is another place for retreat where you can literally and figuratively unload your woes and worries in life. Having many purposes, it would be surely nice to give your bathroom a mini-make over, one that will not demand so much time, effort and money from you. Award-winning interior designer, multimedia consultant, and an author of two books on home décor Kerrie Kelly, shared in Zillow the following tips on how a hassle-free and easy-to-do bathroom improvement can be achieved.

1.    Paint

You may begin with this since doing it yourself can result to a fast and dramatic change.  Choose the color that will match your preferred mood - soft and soothing tones for the simple and serene look and for a greater sense of space and light or warm, saturated tones for a rich and dark hideaway.

2.    Hardware

Easily choose drawer pulls as they are available in all styles and price points. A nickel or stainless finish goes best with the spa look, while oil-rubbed bronze tones will give you a sophisticated atmosphere.

3.    Storage

As bathrooms are spaces which your guests may see anytime, they should be clutter- free. Organization is also important for keep you stress- free. Simple storage cubbies will enable you to easily put away your bathroom stuff.

4.     Lighting

Since good grooming requires good light, this is one are for improvement. If you are   looking to slip into the tub and relax, you will need something softer so you may choose a dimmer switch. For your vanity lighting fixture, choose lighting that covers the same space the original fixture. Moreover, you may consider a dramatic piece of statement lighting such as a chandelier or pendant that adds a sense of style.

5.    Shower, sink and tub faucets

Choose sink fixtures that offer a little more height over the bowl and length extending into the bowl for the most functional effect. You may also upgrade to a new handheld showerhead that ties into the shower arm and can extend from the wall via a hose.

6.    Mirror and medicine cabinet

Getting a simple bevelled mirror version with a plastic wipe-able interior can update a rusted metal version. If you don't want to replace the whole cabinet, build a simple picture-style frame right over your basic wall mirror. Just pick the frame that will match your style and be sure the surface is moisture resistant.

7.    Towel warmer

This is an amenity that must be seriously considered even if you don't have that much space. If space is really a problem, some come as a ready to plug-in or hard wire and hang on the wall.

8.    The final touches

New towels and a fresh bathmat can change the appearance of your bath space with little effort. By picking different colors for your towel and bathmat,  a monochromatic color scheme to dry off in style, or go all white for the spa-like aesthetic, you may give your bath space a totally new look.  You may also consider monogramming your towels with your initials or "His," "Hers" and "Guest "for added detail.
