'GTA 5' Gets 'Rockstar Editor' on PS4 and Xbox, Users Can Create Films Using In-Game Footage

"Grand Theft Auto V" introduces the "Rockstart Editor" on consoles that allow players to make their own short films in the game's world. It also brings "Freemode Events" to Grand Theft Auto Online.

Both the "Rockstar Editor" and "Freemode Events" are only available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC versions since Rockstar is shifting away from last-generation consoles, Gamespot reported. The mode is available through a free software update.

"Freemode Events" represent an "entirely new way to play," according to Rockstar. It added that "there are no loading screens or lobbies; these events will simply trigger in the game world when players encounter them."

More than 10 events are available in GTA Online, wherein one of which is called "Hunt the Beast." Other events include "Hot Property" as well as "Penned In."

The accurately-constructed world of GTA had already been used in recreating famous videos like how one player accurately created a "True Detective" intro using different footage from the game.

Special camera modes are used in "Rockstar Editor" as well as effects like depth of field and filters. Players can also create and cast characters, including animals.

Players who complete any five of the new challenges in the "Freemode Events" between Sept. 15 and Sept. 20 will earn a $50,000 GTA$ bonus as well as an "exclusive" Vapid in-game t-shirt, Rockstar Games News Wire revealed.

Two new adversary modes that include "Cross the Line" and "Hunting Pack" will also be included in the update. Different fixes and tweaks were also added to the gameplay.

The "Rockstar Editor" is already available on consoles now with updated features like ambient sound effect tracks and the ability to take Snapmatic photos in the editor.

Aside from that, the update also comes with a set of new trophies which can be unlocked for doing challenges. Rewards will also be given by making and exporting videos, making a video while playing as an animal actor, or for visiting various locations, The Independent reported.

Meanwhile, IGN has uploaded six-minute video on YouTube where they test out the "Grand Theft Auto 5's Rockstar Editor" on PS4 and Xbox. See the video below:
