A high-ranking official from Treyarch who is privy to the development of "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" has said that the game will break its tradition of making platform-transfer tools available to the game's community.
The game's Design Director David Vonderhaar says that the game forbids the players to transfer both their single and multiplayer progress from either PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 version of the game to the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One once the players decide to buy one of the gaming consoles after the game is launched, a report from iDigital Times said on Monday.
Gamepur reports that this new detail has been announced by Treyarch's Vonderharr via Twitter, saying that the "Call of Duty: Black Ops III" will no longer support stats transfer feature between the last-generation consoles to the current-generation consoles. It was said that Vonderhaar's announcement came as a "surprise" to both avid players and fans of the game. It can be recalled that the previous installment of the game, the "Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare," has supported the stats transfer feature.
"This means if you are planning to buy Call of Duty: Black Ops III on PS3/Xbox 360, your stats won't be available when or if in future you decide to upgrade to a PS4/Xbox One version of the game. This was not the case with last year's Call of Duty game; both Ghosts and Advanced Warfare supported the feature and allowed players to transfer all of multiplayer stats for use within the same console family i.e. PS3-PS4 and Xbox 360-Xbox One," the report said.
Geek Snack, meanwhile, has stated that Treyarch's "Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare" actually allowed the multiplayer stats transfer in the same family of gaming consoles. David Vonderhaar's announcement simply means that upgrading into current-generation consoles would require players to start from scratch, discarding previous points, levels, achievements and more.
The company, however, did not elaborate or give further details about Vonderhaar's announcement.
"Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" is scheduled to be released on Nov. 6 for PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
