3 Types Of Movers And What You Need To Know Before You Hire

Are you doing a house move soon? For a successful move, it's important to know the type of move you're making so you can hire the appropriate mover.

Moving is determined by the distance and location of the move. By knowing the differences, you can save money as well as properly plan your move. Here are 3 types of movers and what you need to know before you hire one according to About Home:

Intrastate Move

If you are moving within the state that you are currently living in - meaning, you are not crossing into another state or across an international border - then you are doing an intrastate move, or more commonly known as a local move.

An intrastate move is usually less expensive and often charged differently than a long distance move. Depending on how far you're moving, a local mover should not be charging per mile. Learn about how mover estimates are calculated so you are not charged more than you should be.

Interstate Move

If your move involves crossing a state border whether to move to another state, or crossing a state line to move within your own state or crossing an international boarder, then you are doing an interstate move.

Unlike an intrastate move, interstate movers are more expensive as calculation is based on distance and there is additional fee to cover mileage. Since you are moving from one state to another, it is more complicated as there are rules and regulations in place for the moving company and the transportation of your goods, depending on the state you're moving to.

International Move

While an interstate move is complicated, an international move is far more complex than moving from one state to another.

Moving from one country to another requires specialized services; your goods need to go through customs and they should have all the necessary paperwork. And of all three types, an international move is the most expensive. There are limited types of movers you can hire and ways on how you can get your stuff to your new home country; plus time, money, and availability should be highly considered.
