Amazon Prime Instant Video Lets Download of Titles for Offline Viewing in iOS and Android

Amazon's Prime Instant Video service just came up with a feature that will clearly differentiate it from rival Netflix. It takes pride in becoming the first subscription- based video streaming service that has made its content available for offline viewing on iOS and Android devices. Amazon has allowed its Amazon Fire tablet users to download videos before, but this was not offered to iPads, iPhones, and Android phones and tablets which was also enjoying a big customer base already.

Likewise, being able to download titles from its paid video service, Amazon Instant Video, has been earlier offered on non-Amazon devices making it clear that the technology which permits offline viewing option possible has been established already.

However, while Amazon Prime Instant Video has around 40,000 titles from the early part of 2015 alone, the offline viewing that it is offering is enabled only to a particular subset of a bigger catalog. This has nothing to do with limitations in technology, this is because Amazon is still in the process of forging an agreement with the movies' content owners to be able to provide the download feature to its customer base.

Amazon has just announced as well the titles that can be downloaded offline beginning with the Amazon originals such as   Bosch, Creative Galaxy, Mozart in the Jungle, Transparent, Tumble Leaf and Wishenpoof.

Popular movies available for download are : Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, The Bling Ring , The Captive , Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, Star Trek Into Darkness, , The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, If I Stay ,  Life After Beth, Palo Alto, Starred Up,  The Spectacular Now.and The Wolf of Wall Street.

Still, there are other movies and series offered  : 24, The Americans , Covert Affairs, Downton Abbey, Extant, Grimm, The Good Wife , Hannibal, Justified, Mr. Selfridge, Orphan Black, Sons of Anarchy, Teen Wolf,  , Suits, Under the Dome, Veronica Mars, and Vikings,  HBO series like Curb Your Enthusiasm, , Boardwalk Empire , Entourage, Girls, The Wire,  The Newsroom,  True Blood  and Veep.

These offerings are made possible thru Amazon's deals with CBS, Fox, HBO , MGM, Paramount and other movie outfit.
