Rummaging rumors of Somerhalder leaving after "The Vampire Diaries" season 7 is due to his wife Nikki Reed. As reported by CDL, the reason for the rumors was Somerhalder's wife Nikki Reed being threatened that Dobrev would do a comeback anytime soon and due to the incessant association of Somerhalder and her ex Nina Dobrev. Or is it simply, Somerhalder is scared that Dobrev leaving the supernatural drama ticks off what the drama's future will be? Aside from this, according to the article, Somerhalder's instagram displays "cryptic" messages on apparent future plans of leaving his Damon Salvatore role.
Regarding the instagram messages that Somerhalder posed from CDL, one of which is where he posted a screenshot of "The Vampire Diaries" first season ranking no. 1 against "Grey's Anatomy." The instagram message captions, "The good old days... Look what was #1!!!!! Thank you for 6 years on the air!!!!" Another message that he posted just last week was a close-up photo of his eye and captioning, "Looking into the future... Love, Ian." Many fans responded to the tweets as well stopping Somerhalder to ever quit his role as Damon Salvatore in the supernatural drama.
Reports from Yibada says that Nikki Reed was one of the main reasons for Somerhalder rumors leaving the show. Reed as said in the article was threatened of the possibility of Dobrev's return and that according to IBTimes, Reed wasn't amused at all by the fact that the two won the Best Kiss Award this year for the Teen Choice Awards. Fans noted the absence of Somerhalder and Reed in the event.
