Surface Pro 4 Specs & Release Date: Microsoft’s Fall Event To Unveil Two Variants With Different Screen Sizes

Software giant Microsoft is set to unveil the Surface Pro 4 tablet in October during the company's fall event. However, new information has surfaced on Sunday, saying that the company is actually planning to release two variants of Surface Pro 4 in the coming weeks. The first model of Microsoft's tablet will be the usual 12-inch display screen variant, while the other is a 13- or 14-inch screen model, which is obviously a larger alternative, Design & Trend said.

DigiTimes reports that both rumored Surface Pro tablets will feature "high-end hardware" which will provide higher profits to suppliers. It was said that both Amazon and Microsoft are planning to release two tablet devices that will benefit Taiwan's supply chain, with revenues seen to spike in the second half of the year.

Amazon is planning to ship a 12-inch Surface Pro 4 tablet; however, it was stressed that the shipment volume will be limited. It was also reported that Amazon has already ordered less than 100,000 panels for the device. It added that Surface Pro 4's large tablet's panel will be supplied by a maker based in Taiwan.

"While the size difference there isn't massive, it would certainly give users more room to use Windows 10's most intricate gesture controls. Unfortunately, the statement doesn't go into detail on the Surface Pro 4's performance-based specs. It merely says that the parts Microsoft has been ordering for the product would qualify as 'high-end hardware.' This is evident by the fact that the company's suppliers have been receiving hefty profits for their shipments," Design & Trend noted.

Microsoft's Surface Pro 4 is expected to be powered by Intel's Skylake chip, with a RAM configuration of  4 GB up to 16 GB, a storage capacity of 128 GB up to 1 TB, a 2,160 x 1,440 pixel resolution display, and a battery that can perform better than Surface Pro 3's. Other rumored specifications include a USB type-C port, 256GB SSDs from Samsung, an 8 megapixel primary rear camera, 3.5 megapixel front camera, and magnesium-aluminum alloy material, Cubic Lane stated.
