"Grey's Anatomy" spoilers from movie news guide entail that the upcoming season will tackle the romance between Jo and Alex. It was revealed by its Showrunner Shonda Rhimes to confirm about "JAlex" storyline for the next season. While Ellen Pompeo revealed from Just Jared details about Meredith's agony regarding the death of Derek Shepherd last season 11.
Rhimes assured the fans of "JAlex" will ponder on their characters more. According to TV Line, Rhimes said that "We had a lot of stories we wanted to tell with them last season, and I promised the fans, 'we're going to tell all these Alex and Jo stories..."
Rhimes also added, "And then we had to take a left turn because Patrick [Dempsey] was leaving. And now we want to tell a lot of those stories - except in a lighter way. So there's a real focus on them this season."
Pompeo on the other hand revealed her feelings regarding Patrick Dempsey's character Derek Shepherd's death on the series. She said that her character Meredith Grey is still in anguish and she also noted that "Grey's Anatomy" is always noted for "big changes" unfolding in the series.
Pompeo said from the article of Just Jared, "It feels a lot different. Every time we lose someone big - when we lost Sandra Oh - when we lose anybody - it's a big shift. But a show that runs this long, you welcome those big changes. It makes everything feel so much different and that's what we're looking for in season 12. We're looking for things to not stay the same. They have to stay the same to some extent but you welcome change because that's what inspires the writers, that's what inspires the actors. Change is necessary for growth."
Just some tidbits on Jo and Alex romance timeline. Jo was a surgical resident in the medical drama series. She got acquainted with Alex on Season 9 Episode 3 "Love the One You're With." They get to know more about each other's past in the succeeding episodes even the relationship Jo is with. They eventually hit it off in Season 9's finale "Perfect Storm" when Alex confessed his love for Jo. It is exciting what could be expected on the coming season for them.
