Keep Pets Away From Real Estate Agents and Potential Buyers

According to a recent publication by Realty Times, buyers and their agents need to feel welcomed to look at the property leisurely and with no danger or distractions, pets barking or threatening to bit.  Pets can be very territorial and not only could they scare the potential buyer of your home, but they could put them in eminent danger while visiting your property.  This could diminish your chance of selling your home fast.  You should regards your buyers and agents like important guests to your home.  If you are concerned about selling your home, then you should also care enough to take your pets to a pet day care before you show your guests around the house.

Realty Times has reminded sellers, through the same article, not to expect your real estate professional to handle your dog if you have left the pet at home.  Handling or training  your dog is not part of their job description or their responsibility.  Their job is to sell your house.  It is also not wise to leave the dog tied in the back yard as they could still sense the presence of your unexpected guests.  They could bark during the visit and these distractions can cost you the opportunity to sell your home.

But it is not only the dogs that sellers should take care of.  Cat owners should also be aware that house cats can repel buyers, as Realty Times says.  While owners may not mind the smell of cat litter as they have already become used to it, these odors can be very offensive to your potential buyers and real estate agents.  They can drive away your buyers in the same way a barking dog does.

Lastly, these distractions go with other pets and not just dogs and cats.  So sellers are reminded that the first two weeks on the market are critical times for your property. These are also the times when you want your home to be pristine and ready for your viewers, which means, no foul smells, no loud animal noise and no animal litter anywhere.  After all you want to sell your home faster, don't you?
