Android 5.2 M Update: OS to Come For Nexus 9, Nexus 6, Nexus 5 in October; App Permission System Addressed?

Android 5.2M, Google's most recent operating system, will be rolled out for Nexus 9, Nexus 6, and Nexus 5 after build assessment process. Google released the operating system in summer for their developing partner's assessment.

Android M is continuing Google's tradition of naming its operating systems after desserts. While Google fans are still holding on to hope that this will only be temporary, the "M" in the operating system is referred to as "Macadamia Nut Cookie," Android Geeks said.

The 5.2M OS update is expected to bring forth great features, but not as big as the Lollipop series. One of the most resounding rumors is that the Android 5.2 M will be able to resolve the problems that the existing app permission system brings. With this release, users will be asked for permission only if the app is to be accessed. Also, it will help enhance the battery life of a handset through Doze.

Google Nexus 9, Nexus 6, and Nexus 5 will then be able to back up app data via Google Drive that syncs every after 24 hours. However, it will require 25MB cap for each of the apps. There will also be customizable quick setting tiles which could be added, moved, or removed. The status bar icons could also be kept hidden in order to achieve a streamlined appeal.

Android 5.2M users will also be provided with the ability to in-house SD cards on top of the internal storage. SD card is handy for devices that were designed with low built-in storage. The Storage Manager has also been tweaked so it could provide data as to which apps are taking very large space and which could be deleted.

Additional Android 5.2M changes could also be experienced with the Contacts app where users are given a choice to share, combine, or delete contacts, and with the Phone Dialer, Multi-Window, and the Do Not Disturb mode.

Android 5.2M is only available to developers at this moment, but reports have said that it will be made available to the public in October, GSM Arena reported.
