Is it really over? As the final chapter of "True Detective" Season 2 wraps up with bawling questions, numerous deaths, hanging promises, it left us a bit empty-handed on what could be a more appalling finale ending.
Warning: Some spoilers will be revealed of the final episode of "True Detective."
The season unfolded with anomalies and pitfalls wherein Woodrugh discovers the body of Caspere with eyes burned out and blown-off genitals. A special team was formed, Velcoro and Bezzerides for his death. While Frank Semyon tries to investigate Caspere's death on his own as he lost his fortune on the venture and tries to legitimize his business.
Apart from the doldrums and sideways of story, the case of the '92 robbery that lead to the plot of finding the lost jewel somewhat made it controversial with the flow of events. The finale opens up with discussions of Velcoro and Bezzerides past strains, talking about Bezzerides childhood abuse, and the death of Velcoro's wife rape offender. Semyon then tries to break off with his wife Jordan and reiterates her to fly off to Venezuela. Velcoro and Bezzerides then identify the Osterman siblings and found out Caspere's killer.
The desert scene and Semyon being killed was a bit of a sad note and also of Velcoro's distressful fate. The bad guys took charge of all the great happenings. Although it might have been a recoiling ending, it's just better to end it off with a great beginning for Bezzerides having the child of Velcoro and getting with Jordan and Nails to start off anew in Venezuela.
As noted from the article of The Guardian, "Everything's ending. Time to wake up."
