'NBA 2K16' Release Date & News: Game Gets Classic Teams Such as 2002-03 Mavericks, 1999-00 Blazers, 2000-01 LA Lakers & More

"NBA 2K16" is set to feature even more classic and legendary teams. Out of the 12 teams, three have already been named: the 1999-00 Toronto Raptors, 2007-08 Boston Celtics, and the 2000-01 Los Angeles Lakers. The reveal has been done via NBA 2K's official Twitter account.

Other well-remembered teams have been revealed as well. The 2002-03 Dallas Mavericks and the 1999-00 Portland Trail Blazers have been named just a few days ago. According to Digital & Trend, the Mavs roster during this time included Steve Nash and Dirk Nowitski, while the Trail Blazers had Scottie Pippen and Steve Smith.

The game's official Twitter account has said that the company will be announcing two more classic teams every Thursday after three teams have already been announced.

Meanwhile, other interesting features have also been included in "NBA 2K16." This includes the rather amusing "mouthguard routine" of Golden State Warriors' guard and MVP Stephen Curry before he does free throws. Curry himself posted a teaser on what he'll look like in the new game. While some might find it disgusting, fans are expected to enjoy the little feature. Another will be the reveal of the Atlanta Hawks' newest jersey.

Another new feature 2K fans are looking forward to is the Pro-Am mode of the game. This feature is incredibly customizable, from jerseys to the home court. Highlights include instant matchmaking, up-to-date leaderboards, and of course, the freedom to truly form one's team. Bleacher Report has more details about it.

"NBA 2K16" is set for release on Sept. 29, 2015 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Microsoft Windows.
