'Vikings' Season 4 Release Date & Spoilers: King Ragnar to be Captivated by Mysterious Yidu's Charm? Actor Travis Fimmel Talks About Character's Death

Looks like fans can expect a little bit of romance in Season 4 of the popular History Channel historical drama, "Vikings."

The addition of the mysterious Yidu (played by Dianne Doan) to the series will bring a rather pleasant change to King Ragnar Lothbrok's character (as portrayed by Travis Fimmel). Yidu will eventually captivate King Ragnar and he'll be intrigued with the new character's enigmatic and unique personality, as reported by Master Herald.

Here's a brief background on the newest character as told by Doan herself to International Business Times: She was kidnapped at the Red Sea and then brought to Paris where she became a slave, and remained so even when she was back in Kattegat. Doan explains that "the people of Kattegat have never seen someone like her, from her looks, to views on the world and beliefs," which will probably explain how she will pique King Ragnar's interest.

Before finally adding a love interest for Fimmel's character, "Vikings" creator Michael Hirst went through fact checking and consulted with a historical expert to make sure that there was actually a possible connection, according to Entertainment Weekly. The fourth season will let the viewers explore more about the "mysterious Yidu" character.

Meanwhile, Fimmel also discussed the possible death of his character even if its likelihood is very small. His character has been on the brink of death many times all throughout the series, especially in Season 3. Fimmel said that his character isn't afraid of dying, and he might actually just be a little bit intrigued by it.

"Vikings" Season 4 is set to premiere in 2016.
