Meghan King Edmonds makes headlines for having valiantly dyed her a vibrant shade of pink days after her husband's first wife, LeAnn Edmonds Horton, succumbed to colon cancer at the age of 45. The bold change in the hair color of the Orange County star, which has raised a lot of eyebrows, has in fact a deeper meaning and not just a fashion statement.
It was her way of paying tribute to the first wife of husband Jim Edmonds. The Edmonds and the Hortons were friends and they co-parented the Horton's two children.
Edmonds told PEOPLE, "We are embracing the life that we have because life is beautiful and you never know when it's going to end." Currently the family is preparing to say their final goodbyes at the funeral that will take place this Sunday. She is aware of the criticism surrounding her decision to dye her hair pink. Speaking of these criticisms she said, "That I'm an attention seeker or that I look terrible or why didn't I do blue for colon cancer. But if LeAnn was here, her eyes would be as big as saucers. She would be like 'I can't believe you did it,' but she would love it."
Edmonds shared, "During her chemotherapy she had all these different wigs and she got a red one and a blonde one, different lengths and she would have her hair stylist give them highlights. She had fun with it and just loved hair and always had her nails perfect so she would have been like, 'You are crazy but I love you and I think it's awesome that you did it.' "
"For LeAnn to embrace me as she did is a true testament to her character and willingness to work together for the sake of her children," Edmonds wrote on her blog. "LeAnn's personality was captured perfectly on camera: accommodating, sweet and overall a lovely person."
Jim Edmonds, 45, is a former MLB player who shared daughters Lauren and Hayley with Horton. Meghan and Jim married in October 2014
