In the real world, we don't call for superheroes when an emergency is happening. During crime incidents or when someone is in the verge of danger and even death, we call the authorities for help. And on the night of June 26, a friend of Jaydon Chavez-Silver, a teenager who was shot during a party, called 911 for help.
Report says that 17 year old Chavez-Silver was shot shortly after arriving in a party. According to the Albuquerque police, a car drove by the place where the party is going on and a gunman allegedly open fired. And immediately after the incident and when they learned of Chavez-Silver being shot, a friend called 911, and below is an excerpt from the transcript of the conversation coming from a local station KRQE.
911 caller: "I'm doing CPR as we speak. I'm keeping him alive."
Caller: (inaudible) I'm keeping him alive.
Sanchez: Is he not breathing?
Caller: Barely. (inaudible) Stay with me. Stay with me, okay? Good job, Jaydon.
Sanchez: Is he breathing?
Caller: He's barely breathing. How many times do I have to f---ing tell you?
Sanchez: Okay, do you know what ma'am? You can deal with it yourself. I'm not going to deal with this, okay?
Caller: No, he's going to die.
The call ends there.
"You can deal with it yourself. I'm not going to deal with this, okay?"
-911 Dispatcher
As reported and read on the conversation above, the call was left unaided. And the person on the line was later on identified as Matthew Sanchez, 10 year veteran firefighter who was assigned to the dispatch center that night. Sanchez deliberately hung-up after the distraught caller cursed him.
After learning about the incident and hearing the recording, Chief David Downey released a statement to Buzzfeed saying that;
"After learning of the alleged misconduct, Driver Matthew Sanchez was immediately removed from the dispatch center and placed on administrative assignment. An internal investigation has been initiated. As the Chief of the department, I am taking the allegation very seriously."
But for the mother of the young teenager, Nicole Chavez, though shocked about what she heard, finding the perpetrator of the crime is more important.
"Right now, we just want to find the people responsible for this violent, deadly crime."
