'Fifty Shades Darker' Spoilers & Cast News: Henry Cavill Reveals Why He 'Lied' About Being In 'Fifty Shades Of Grey' Sequel

So much buzz has been surrounding Henry Cavill's possible inclusion into "Fifty Shades Darker" to play the role of Jack Hyde. Just recently, the "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" star explained why he initially made his fans believe that he will star in the "Fifty Shades of Grey" sequel.

In a previous interview with E! News, Cavill said that he cannot say anything about his involvement in "Fifty Shades Darker." This has led fans to speculate that the actor will indeed be given the role of Jack. However, in a follow-up interview with USA Today, Cavill confirmed that he will not be in the film and said that he is merely messing up with everyone.

"I'm not in 'Fifty Shades of Grey.' I'm for real. I'm just messing with everyone," he said.

The "Man of Steel" actor explained that a lot of publications asked him before if he will play the role of Christian Grey on "Fifty Shades of Grey." Although he knew that someone else will be cast for the role, no one wanted to believe him because they all assumed that he was the best fit for the role.

"The first time around, everyone was asking, 'Are you Christian Grey?' I went, 'No!' But no one cared and even kept talking about it. This time around, everyone is now still convinced I'm part of the series. Now the question is, 'Are you going to be in "Fifty Shades Darker?' And I thought, I'm going to try a different tact this time. See what they say. And so I tried a different tact," he explained.

Meanwhile, Cavill said that he doesn't regret his decision to play a social experiment among his fans and those who have been asking about his participation in the film. "I'm going to do something like this again in the future and make a real social experience out of it," he said.

"Fifty Shades Darker" will hit theaters in the United States on Feb. 10, 2017.
