Charlie Hunnam King Arthur Movie: 'Knights of the Round Table: King Arthur' Star's New Photos In Costume Unveiled

In its recent magazine cover, Entertainment Weekly revealed the first official look of Charlie Hunnam as the title monarch in "Knights of the Round Table: King Arthur."

Hunnam also shared his thoughts about his character in the movie. According to Coming Soon, in an interview, Hunnam said that King Arthur is "a little bit rough around the edges, but he's basically a survivor. He's a hustler," he said. He added that the movie will show a different side of the king, which is usually common in Guy Ritchie films.

Director Guy Ritchie tells Entertainment Weekly that often times, movies or shows try to portray King Arthur as someone nice, which he says is bland. He added that "good guys are boring," so fans are going to be treated with a different side of the famous king in the upcoming movie.

According to reports, the source material for the film was Thomas Mallory's "Le Morte d'Arthur," which was published back in 1485 as part of a compilation of French and English tales. The movie is said to be a new telling of the classic monarch legend who is said to be the sixth century king who defended Britain against Saxon invaders.

Reports also reveal that the movie will dig deep into the fantasy elements of the famous legend and fans can expect to see massive snakes, large war elephants and some monstrous Viking-like creature, which will be famously known as "The Nemesis."

Other cast members will include "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" star Astrid Gerbes-Frisbey as Guinevere, Eric Bana as Arthur's father, "Sherlock Holmes" star Jude Law, who will play the film's villain, and Djimon Honsou as a Merlin-like mentor to Arthur.

"Knights of the Round Table: King Arthur" is scheduled to be released on July 22, 2016. It was written by Joby Harold and produced by Akiva Goldsman, Tory Tunnell and Ritchie.
