Rumor has it - CBS is vying to get the next Mayweather fight on their network. They are allegedly counting figures, discussing with advertisers, and finalizing finances to finally get Floyd Mayweather Jr. to let his September fight on CBS. His last fight with Manny Pacquiao labeled as the "fight of the century", garnered a $100 per pay-per-view. Now that he seeks to tie with Rocky Mariano's record of 49-0, it is possible that his next fight on September will be a free-fight for the viewers.
The upcoming fight of Mayweather will be with Andre Berto, a Haiti native. He has a record of 30-3,23 while Mayweather has a record of 48-0. Although Berto went through a big threat for his career when he got injured during his fight with Joselito Lopez, he is happy to inform everyone that he is excited and up for the challenge to beat Mayweather. Berto says that he knows that it will be a great fight if it happens.
It was reported that Mayweather has discussed these matters with his manager and officials say that we can expect his decision within the coming week. Right now, the biggest question is how much revenue the fight would get from advertisers once it is aired on CBS. Typically, advertising deals are made months prior to the airing date, however, special events may call for flexible transactions.
Mayweather fights are known to draw a huge amount of money. The MayPac fight drew more than $440 million dollars. His fights with Alvarez and De La Hoya also drew millions of dollars from pay-per-view airing. This is probably the major reason why CBS is pushing the idea of making the next Mayweather fight free for viewers.
The reports that associated Mayweather with CBS are making rounds on the internet and it definitely made fans even more excited to watch the fight.
