New York, Vermont, and Canada Face Challenges In Their Real Estate Market

New York, Vermont, and Canada are currently facing an unusual threat on their real estate markets - algae. According to Realtor, the 500 square mile lake that stretches from the state and the country is currently blanketed by the blue-green algae blooms. Apparently the disgusting look of it is just the tip of the iceberg; it also smells bad and kills marine life underneath it. But the most disturbing fact about algae is that it is very dangerous to humans and will cause liver damage if indigested.

With this at hand, prices of properties along the lake are suffering as well. As one expert agent said during an interview, "As a result of the algae blooms, properties in that area will take longer to sell and often sell at a lot lower prices than properties that are on bigger, more open parts of the lake."

The problem peaks at the St. Albans and Missisquio Bay where the average listing price are in the mid $300,000s which is higher than the average, $219,000, in Vermont. This area is the largest segment of the buying public.

Center of Earth and Environmental Science is looking into the matter and they have to determine what triggered this phenomenon. The agency is looking at some factors like Nutrients, Temperature, Light, Turbidity, and Stable Condition.

Nutrients promote and support the growth of algae and cyanobacteria while temperature helps the growth of the algae. Light, on the other hand, keeps growing when there is an absence of light. Stable condition of the water in the lake keeps the algae in the lake. Lastly, turbidity happens when a considerable measure of water is going through the framework (high release after a downpour occasion). Low turbidity happens when there is just a little measure of suspended matter present in the water segment. Low turbidity can be because of moderate moving or stagnant water that permits suspended articles to settle out of the water section. At the point when turbidity is low, all the more light can enter through the water section. This makes ideal conditions for algal development. Consequently, developing green growth make a turbid situation.

But this issue is not a problem at all since bargain hunters might look into this because the issue is not permanent.
