Samsung Note 5 Release Date & Rumors: Device to Arrive in September

Samsung is reportedly eyeing a head-on competition with Apple in September with the confirmed release date of the Korean firm's Galaxy Note 5 and the American company's rumored release of its new iPhone.

In a report, Phone Arena said that Samsung executive vice president Rhee In Jong accidentally revealed the release date of the company's next high-end phone during a conference call recently. He reportedly announced that the Samsung Pay mobile payment system will be delayed to September instead of July. The payment system, he said, will be first employed on Samsung's next high-end handset, which should be the Samsung Galaxy Note 5, the report added.

September is the month for IFA 2015, the world's biggest trade show of consumer electronics and home appliances. Last year's IFA was when Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Samsung Galaxy Note Edge were unveiled.

Despite this, reports that Samsung Galaxy Note 5 will get an earlier release still surfaced. According to Master Herald, Samsung might get an earlier release date, which is next month, August. Rumors have it that Samsung wants to directly go up against Apple which is reportedly releasing iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus in September. The Korean electronics giant is said to be aiming for August to get a better position on the market. By releasing their own device in August, Samsung could easily steal the spotlight from the American firm and get a lot of sales, the report said.

Tech Radar also reported the possibility that the phablet will be released in late August as Samsung was reportedly talking to Taiwanese retailers about stocking the Galaxy Note 5 early so they can be available to the public before Apple releases its new phone. The reports, however, did not rule out the possibility that the Samsung product will be launched in IFA 2015.

While an earlier release could provide major advantages for Samsung, there is also reportedly a possibility that it could backfire if the Samsung's Galaxy Note 5 fails to meet consumer expectations. The report added that Samsung could drive attention straight toward the next iPhone in September if expectations on the new Note 5 are not met in August.

The company's plan to release in August is something that is reportedly not new to Samsung. The company also did something similar last year when they launched the Galaxy Alpha. The phone got a lot of attention from the media and gadget lovers, which could happen again this time, the report said.
