Marvel Will Release Video Game Inspired Comic Book

When Marvel Comics was conceptualized in 1939, a video game is a thing of the future that was hard to fathom in that era. But since the boom of video games in the 70's and 80's, game making is no longer a thing of the future and comic inspired video games are burning the video game arena from year to year. However, the now-Disney-owned Marvel are doing the unthinkable, they have announced that they will release a comic game that is inspired by a video game.

According to CNet,  Marvel will be launching a comic series this coming October that is conceptualized around Contest of Champions, a video game created together with Kabam, a San Francisco based game producer.

It will follow the line story of the most popular Marvel characters such as Captain America and Spider-Man who were abducted to fight the mysterious figure Collector. Marvel Comics' Creative Director said that the book, unlike the comic book, should be better and bar shattering as the game. He also said that they have to define what the comic is based on the game.

Experts also said that it might not only influence the video game industry but it can also lead into influencing how comics are written. While Marvel may still rely on their writers, the video game developers might offer new story lines. The move will also give its readers and gamers a deeper connection with the characters.

Marvel's head of interactive and digital media group, Peter Phillips, also said that video games have become an important part of storytelling for them and they have gone smarter as an organization.

On the other hand, a lot might think that this is a new thing but in reality, there were some who tried to make a TV show or movie that is inspired by a game. Take for example, the Nintendo smash game Super Mario Bros. which had a movie in 1993. Based on the Box Office Mojo, the legendary game was a flop and the storyline was a big disappointment. Another movie that was a huge hit in the game arena was the Jean Claude Van Damme starred Street Fighter
