On Monday, Pokémon Company International has announced its new game that will be launched later this year called "Pokemon Shuffle." The company claims that it is the first video game ever to be developed for mobile platforms, a report from Techtimes stated this week.
According to Techtimes, "Pokemon Shuffle" is a Pokemon-themed match game and can only be ported using Nintendo's handheld console. The report pointed out that "Pokemon Shuffle," as claimed by Nintendo, has been downloaded more than 4.5 million times in Nintendo 3DS. Nintendo is reportedly hoping that it will have the same figures when "Pokemon Shuffle" is rolled out in Google Play Store and Apple App Store later this year.
Nintendo, as noted by Techtimes, is revamping its strategies to penetrate the mobile market. The company is reportedly planning to adopt strategies to make creative titles. These innovative mobile titles will serve as a primary gateway to Nintendo's console platforms, including the present development in Nintendo's "NX" gaming console.
"Pokémon Shuffle" Mobile is a new mobile game where players will battle wild Pokémon with their wits and puzzle-solving skills. By matching three or more Pokémon, players can deal damage and whittle down their opponents. Fans can even battle through difficult stages by using Mega-Evolved Pokémon," a Pokémon Company International press release stated.
A related report from Wired, meanwhile, stressed that microtransactions are actually defining mobile gaming today. The same report warned that if "Pokemon Shuffle's" versions in both iOS and Android platform will use the microtransactions scheme as in the 3DS version, the video game might suffer the same critical backslash.
Microtransactions is a business model that allows gamers to buy virtual goods through micropayments. This type of scheme is applied to free-to-play games that aim to generate revenue for the developers of the game.
