'Fifty Shades Darker' Movie News, Cast Update: Eloise Mumford Weighs In Sam Taylor-Johnson's Exit; Teases Sequel

"Fifty Shades of Grey" (FSOG) star Eloise Mumford recently expressed her thoughts about former director Sam Taylor-Johnson.

Taylor-Johnson confirmed that she will no longer return to direct the two upcoming sequels to the franchise, "Fifty Shades Darker" and "Fifty Shades Freed." The director also said that she and book author E.L. James had a few disagreements over the creative direction of the film.

In her official statement originally published by Deadline, Taylor-Johnson said that even though she will no longer return to the franchise, she still wish the two upcoming films success.

Following such reports, fans of "FSOG" are wondering who will be in charge of helming "Fifty Shades Darker. According to Mumford, at present, no one has been officially tapped yet.

In an interview with Female First, Mumford, who plays the role of Anastasia Steele's (Dakota Johnson) roommate Kate Kavanagh, said that all of the cast members are excited to work with the new director. However, she added that the work of Taylor-Johnson on "Fifty Shades of Grey" was impressive enough.

Meanwhile, the actress also revealed that she and her cast members thought the two sequels will not be picked up for the big screen.

"We didn't even know when we were shooting if we would make the second or third movie. There was always anticipation of it, but it depended on the film coming out and doing incredibly well, which it did. So, while we were filming, we were all just concentrating on making the best movie that we possibly could," she said.

Additionally, Mumford said that the success of "Fifty Shades of Grey" was in part due to Taylor-Johnson's vision and creativity, Fashion N Style reported. "We really succeeded at that, I think, in large part to Sam Taylor-Johnson and what an incredible director she is," she said.

"Fifty Shades Darker" is slated for release in the United States in February 2017.
