Facebook Messenger App Debuts First 'Game': ‘Doodle Draw’

Social media giant Facebook has reengineered its native messaging platform Messenger by adding a feature that allows users to draw and play games. Dubbed as "Doodle Draw," the application was simply developed as a sort of gaming platform that allows interaction between two users by guessing words based on the provided sketches, a Yahoo report said on Wednesday.

Yahoo described the Facebook Messenger's new app as a "draw something-like" game which requires a user to pick a word, illustrate the given word and send it to other Facebook users and have them guess the sketches being drawn.

Facebook's Doodle Draw, according to Yahoo, allows user to do a doodle in multiple colors such as black, red, blue and yellow. Once users are progressing in the Doodle Draw game, they will eventually earn an in-game stars which they can use to buy new color packs.

Facebook has introduced this new feature after developers wanted to improve the user's experience by expressing themselves in songs, drawings and other similar platform tools. This gaming feature in Facebook's Messenger app was a clear attempt to entice users to spend more time in the messaging platform, Technewstoday reported.

The report added that Facebook has capitalized on its user base, and through Doodle Draw, users will be eventually hooked to its native messaging app, the Messenger. Clearly, Facebook's Doodle Draw could be an ideal feature with the intent to keep Facebook users active and engage in social media platform.

Facebook users can download the Doodle Draw application both from the App Store and Google Play Store. It can be recalled that earlier this year Facebook has introduced other features to the Messenger application like the content creation GIF and sound effects maker, among others. The company has grown significantly for a span of year as it is expanding progressively by developing utilities and gaming platforms that will benefit its global users.
