Home Improvement Tips: Simple Ideas for an Expensive-Looking Bathroom

To create a luxurious feel for your bathroom, all you need is a little creativity and some cheap furnishings and then you're good to go.

When it comes to home renovation, the second most expensive room to improve is the bathroom. But there are a lot of ways on how to make your bathroom look elegant but still fit on the budget.

Julia Millay Walsh of MY DOMAINE shares a few ways.

One of these ways is to have your own private seating where you can polish your nails or just simply relax. Instead of grooming your nails on the restroom seat, you can do it on your own perch.

Another way to make your bathroom look premium is to keep toiletries and personal stuff concealed. This way your bathroom would look tidy and classy.

You can also pick the finest mirror with an attitude and hang it in place of your old-fashioned medicine cabinet. You can also make use of plains and printed rugs to upscale your bathroom.

Jaimie Wiebe, web editor at ELLE Décor, gives a few more tips.

Some fluffy items like towels and bath rugs are good to use. A fluffy, soft, neutral-colored towel is one of the keys if you want your bathroom to have a spa-like atmosphere and elegant-style aura.

Dim lights play a big role on the way your luxurious bathroom would look. Dim lighting brings out the sexy mood compared to bright one. You can install dimmers or just purchase bulbs with low-electricity consumption. For alternatives, small lamps, scones or candles are good options.

If you are going to use candles for your dim lighting, engage all of your senses by lighting the candles with some relaxing scent you love. This is perfect for a soothing bubble bath. If you are not a fan of candles, you can use scented diffuses or potpourri.

A rainfall shower head, no matter how much it costs, always looks luxurious, and with water gently pouring on your skin, it makes every bath a special occasion. You can get one at less than $40.00.

Plants not only help to clear the air; they also make the bathroom look fresher. Plants are also easier to maintain because of higher humidity level. You can try small bamboos, aloe vera or other indoor bonsai plants.
