Emmy Award-Winning Screenwriter Bob Ellison Buys Westwood Condo for $1.7 Million

Emmy Award-winning screenwriter Bob Ellison bought a $1.7M Westwood condo which covers around 2,300 sq.ft of living space, reports Los Angeles Times.

The prolific writer chose a high-rise condominium located in the posh area of Los Angeles, notes the outlet. The two-bedroom unit is said to face the southwest and features a modern kitchen and a living and dining room complex.

The "Dear John" co-creator's residence is reportedly adorned with hardwood flooring and spanning glass panels to view the wonderful city and the relaxing ocean. The condo unit also comes with a balcony for the screenwriter to better feel the beauty of nature. Perhaps, he would linger there and let the scenery give him amazing ideas and inspiration for his next project.

According to property records, Ellison bought it recently as it was just available for sale in March with a $1,695,000 tag price, notes the news site. LA Times informs that the listing agent was Jane Siegal of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage and the one who represented Bob Ellison was Maureen McCormick of Partners Trust Brentwood.

Ellison's chosen condo has several amenities such as a "full 24/7 service building with Valet, Security, Pool, Spa, Gym, Sauna and Conference room," writes High Rises. The site also notes that the condo units are spacious that even the one-bedroom and the smallest of the units are "still over 2,000 square feet."

Westwood Village

The screenwriter would feel at home in Westwood as it is is LA's premiere village centre, just right at the heart of the city with nearby luxury estates such as "Bel Air, Holmby Hills, Wilshire Corridor, Brentwood, Pacific Palisades, Beverly Hills, West Hollywood and Santa Monica," notes westwoodblvd.com.

The writer in him will appreciate this historically rich area, which is said to be adorned with masterfully-designed buildings dating back in the 1930s and 1940s. He may be amazed of such wonderful designs such as "New Orleans Revival, American Colonial Revival, Mediterranean, Spanish Colonial Revival, Period Revival, Post-war Modern, French Regency, and Classical Revival," adds the site.

Being in the entertainment industry, he will love that Westwood is a "center of movie-going on the Westside and the site of many movie premieres," Top LA Houses describes. The area is near the Art Deco Crest, Mann Village (once called the Fox Theater), and the Bruin Theatre.

Bob Ellison won the Emmy for "Outstanding Writing in a Comedy Series" in 1977 which he shared with his fellow writers, Allan Burns, James L. Brooks, Ed. Weinberger, Stan Daniels and David Lloyd for the final episode of "The Mary Tyler Moore Show," according to IMDb. Ellison also got another Emmy in 1971 for "Outstanding Writing Achievement in Comedy, Variety or Music" which he shared with Marty Farrell for "Singer Presents Burt Bacharach," adds the movie database.
