'Fast & Furious 8' Release Date & Cast: Movie Confirmed? Cody Walker Returning & The Rock Talks Film Setting [Rumors]

After "Furious 7" and its record breaking box office haul, talk about the next franchise film has been heating up.

RealtyToday reported earlier that lead cast Vin Diesel has expressed his desire for an eighth film because of Paul Walker.

"Paul used to say that 'Fast & Furious 8' was guaranteed, and, in some ways, when your brother guarantees something, you have to make sure it comes to pass," said Diesel to MTV News.

Now, new reports are surfacing that the late Paul Walker's brother -- Cody Walker who acted as a body double to complete "Furious 7" -- wants to continue pursuing an acting career. The 26-year-old is reportedly open to any and all types of roles but he may have one in the bag if "Furious 8" pushes through.

"I'm not sure if they are going to make an eighth movie, but if they did, I'm sure he would entertain a conversation (about a role)," said Cody to NYDailyNews, as written by Enstarz.

There are other reports circulating that should an eighth film happen with Cody's involvement, Cody won't necessarily play his brother' double. Rather, fans might see an entirely new character that's somehow related to Brian O'Connor (Paul Walker).

It follows an earlier source reveal by Mail Online's insider: "Paul's character Brian O'Conner will be seen retiring, while his younger brother will join the crew as a new character. Cody isn't a replacement for Paul in any way. It would be a tribute to Paul that Cody carries on the Walker name in the Fast and The Furious movies."

"Furious 8" Location Revealed?

One series insider has moved past speculation over the next movie and has provided his thoughts on where the unconfirmed film may be shot. Wrestler-turned-actor Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson told MTV, per The Morning Call, in a recent interview that he believes the movie will be set in New York City.

The site also noted that Vin Diesel disclosed while on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" that "Furious 7" was actually the beginning of a trilogy that would feature government agent Mr. Nobody (Kurt Russell).

"I always think of these films, multiple pictures, in advance. I think of them as trilogies," teased the actor regarding a potential eighth film. "Kurt Russell came in for [Furious 7] but we really hired him because of a story that follows this, that takes place in New York."

Given that "Furious 7" has just become the fastest film to gross $1 billion globally (17 days), chances of another film is very high. With over $1.1 billion grossed, the film has just become the seventh highest grossing film in history.

Are you excited for an eighth film? What would you like to see should the film push through?
