‘Guardians of the Galaxy 2’ Plot & Cast: Film to Focus on Star-Lord’s ‘Daddy Issue’? Yes, Especially Now That He Knows He’s Not Human!

“Guardians of the Galaxy 2” director, James Gunn, reportedly already finished the story treatment for the movie even if shooting will start next year. According to his statements, it looks like the movie will focus on Peter Quill's daddy issues.

Quill, otherwise known as Star-Lord, dealt with some personal problems after his mother died in the first “Guardians of the Galaxy” adventure. The upcoming second installment of the franchise will be focusing on his feelings when his father enters the scene. What makes this plot even more interesting is that Quill also has to deal with how he feels now that he knows he is not human.

When Yondu, played by Michael Rooker, made a reference to Quill’s absentee father towards the end of the first movie, fans were quick to assume that it was Marvel’s relatively indirect method of setting things up for the second installment.

Although Daddy Quill will be introduced in the movie, Gunn clarified that the storyline will not be solely focused on the character. “It is about what Peter’s relationship is to that character,” he said, as reported by Screen Rant.

“There is a lot of stuff I am excited about in the new movie,” Gunn told Vulture. “Listen, I am still excited about Star-Lord’s character and where he goes. At its heart, ‘Guardians’ is a story about families, and if the first film was about him and his mother, this is a story about fathers. So, it is exciting to go there.”

According to the report, Gunn admitted that he had actually already known about what storyline he wanted to use for part two of the series. Moreover, he even teased that he now has some tentative plans regarding “Guardians 3.”

He also revealed to MTV News that some of the characters in the “Guardians of the Galaxy” will be getting more screen time than others, namely, Yondu, Gamora, and Nebula. These are the characters that fans will be able to get to know more.

Fans of the franchise will be glad to know that the villain’s adopted daughters, Gamora, played by Zoe Saldana, and Nebula, played by Karen Gillian, will be getting a lot of screen time in the second film. Gamora was able to find a new family with the rest of the Guardians – with all the members coming together to form a makeshift family.

Meanwhile, Nebula was a stand-out character in the film - one who was always in a beef with Gamora. Fans are most likely going to be excited when they find out that her role will be expanded.
