'Spider-Man' Plot & Cast: Reboot to Feature High School Peter Parker's Homemade Costume?

The “Spider-Man” reboot, which is expected to come out sometime in 2017, will be featuring Peter Parker, much to the dismay of Miles Morales fans. Unlike the two other “Spider-Man” films before it, Kevin Feige, the president of Marvel Studios, confirmed that the next one will not be an origin story.

"With great power comes great responsibility – it is inherent to who his character is," Feige told Crave Online. “But, we want to reveal it in different ways and spend much more time focusing on this young high school kid in the MCU dealing with his powers.”

“There is a young kid already running around New York City in a homemade version of the ‘Spider-Man’ costume in the MCU,” he added with a laugh. “You just do not know it yet.”

Fans of the web-slinger have been waiting for further news about the franchise but nothing much has been revealed about it. Although it has not yet been officially announced, Screen Rant is convinced that Peter Parker will first make an appearance in another Marvel blockbuster, “Captain America: Civil War.” This appearance will be setting things up for his own solo film.

Sony Pictures, which has the film rights to the franchise, opted to become partners with Marvel Studios to make yet another attempt at making a “Spider-Man” movie. This deal was finalized also in the hopes of reminding people that web-slinger is actually one of the most prominent superhero movie characters especially after how Andrew Garfield’s “The Amazing Spider-Man” was branded as a flop.

Since the upcoming “Spider-Man” reboot is the character’s debut appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the studio wants to start with a 15- to 16-year-old Peter Parker. It is a relief that they decided not to retread the same territory that previous films tackled.

“In terms of the age of an actor we will eventually cast, I do not know,” Feige revealed to Collider. “In terms of the age of what we believe Peter Parker is, I would say 15 to 16 is right.”

There were earlier reports that speculated that Marvel might decide to introduce a different web-slinger into the MCU. If this rumor would have come to fruition, it would have been the first “Spider-Man” movie to feature someone of color, as pointed out by The Mary Sue.

“There are so many things from the comics that have not been done yet,” added Feige. “Not just characters or villains or supporting characters, but sides to his character.”
