Batman Vs. Superman' Cast, Update & Release Date: New Villain 'Red Hood' To Be Introduced? [Rumors]

Ever since reports were released on a DC Universe crossover in the upcoming "Batman Vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice," fans of both superheroes have been very eager to know how the story would pan out on the big screen. With big lead characters, it seems that the producers are determined to match it with equally big villains. Rumors have circulated that the new film would feature a new and iconic villain from the "Batman" universe - one that has never been explored in previous movies.

When news of the crossover movie came about, it was reported that the producers did not intend it to be just one film. The addition of more villains is also supposed to pave the way for further movies in the franchise.

According to a report in Screen Rant, a former Batman protégé is rumored to make an entrance in the upcoming movie. Jason Todd was taken by Batman under his wing when Dick Grayson, the original Robin, left.  He was believed to have been killed by The Joker.

It was later revealed that he survived and is bent on avenging his death after he learned that Batman did nothing to do so. He took on the alias, "Red Hood," an antihero who is similar to Batman in so many ways except for his violence and brutality.

It seems that fans would finally see Red Hood on the big screen. El Mayimbe, also known as Umberto Gonzales, from The Latino Review shared an Instagram post where he revealed that Red Hood might see the light of day in the upcoming movie.

According to his post, "Jason Todd's uniform is in a display case inside the Batcave! In fact, The Joker & Harley Quinn are estranged in SUICIDE SQUAD because she feels guilt over the death of Todd. I'm also told that the RED HOOD is now a priority character for DC. One more thing, 'John Wick' directors Chad Stahelski & David Leith being courted to direct DC film!"

It is not yet clear whether Red Hood would join the cast of characters in the upcoming "Batman Vs. Superman" or if his character would pave way for a new "Batman" movie series.

DC has yet to confirm the reports and until they make an official announcement, things must be taken with a grain of salt.

The upcoming "Batman Vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice" would feature Henry Cavill as Superman and Ben Affleck as Batman, reported iDigitalTimes. Jason Momoa, Jesse Eisenberg, Amy Adams, and Gal Gadot would also join the cast as Aquaman, Lex Luthor, Lois Laine, and Wonder Woman, respectively.

The movie is expected to hit theaters on March 25, 2016.
