'Toy Story 4' Trailer, Release Date & Plot: Insider Spills Movie Details, Film Won't Be Like Others

Jim Morris, the Pixar studio president has revealed a number of details regarding the fourth installment of the "Toy Story" series.

According to the executive, fans were advised that the film is going to take on a different angle that's separate from the past story lines within the franchise. The film won't continue with the previous trilogy and this time around will focus more on love than the usual focus centered on Andy and his toys.

"It's not a continuation of the end of the story of Toy Story 3," Jim Morris, president of Pixar, told Disney Latino (via SlashFilm). "In temperament it is, but it will be a love story. It will be a romantic comedy. It will not put much focus on the interaction between the characters and children. I think it will be a very good movie."

The previous trilogy which ended with 2010's "Toy Story 3" was a massive hit in the box office and The Telegraph notes that it took in over $1 billion worldwide. Prior to Disney's "Frozen" released in 2013, "Toy Story 3" had the throne as the highest-grossing animated film in history.

Morris emphasized that Pixar continues franchises through sequels if there is more to be told and the company is "passionate" but it's never been about the money.

"That's not what it's about," he said. "It's about an idea that is met with enthusiasm."

Upon confirmation that a fourth film was going to be developed, IGN shared that the original director was returning to lead the new film.

"John [Lasseter] created Toy Story and directed the first two films, and it's great to have him back directing one of our most valuable properties," quoted the site of Walt Disney Co. chief executive officer Bob Iger.

Lasseter is working with the rest of the original writing team that also includes Andrew Stanton, Pete Docter and Lee Unkrich. "We love these characters so much; they are like family to us," said the appointed director during the time of the announcement.

"We don't want to do anything with them unless it lives up to or surpasses what's gone before. Toy Story 3 ended Woody and Buzz's story with Andy so perfectly that for a long time, we never even talked about doing another Toy Story movie. But when Andrew, Pete, Lee and I came up with this new idea, I just could not stop thinking about it. It was so exciting to me, I knew we had to make this movie-and I wanted to direct it myself."

"Toy Story 4" is currently in production and will be released on June 16, 2017. No trailer for the film has been released.
