Pets are often treated as part of the family. We care for their needs, take them to the doctor if they get sick and give them the best in every way that we can. That's why owners would often consider them before making decisions for the home and the rest of the family.

However, caring for pets also comes with problems, not only for the family members but for the other objects in the home. Pets, unlike us humans, are less likely to know how to care for themselves and the home they live in.

Pet hairs can be everywhere, but they are hardest to remove on sofas, cushions, and furniture. So how do you protect the furniture in your home without having to be a strict fur parent? The answer is to get the right pet-friendly fabric for your home, like these:

Microfiber

The synthetic version of microfiber wears beautifully. It also does well against rips and scratches. When it comes to dirt and lint, cleaning microfiber surfaces are a breeze.

Just use your choice of the lint brush and start wiping at the dirt. You can also use your hands. The lint strands should wipe right off. When it comes to stains, microfiber can be washed with soap and water to look gleaming clean again.

Denim

You read that right. Denim isn't only great for jeans. It's also an excellent choice for covering your precious furniture from pet hair. They don't only look good, they're also durable and are very easy to maintain.

Though denim may not look good in all sorts of rooms, they do go well in more modern types of rooms or warm, cozy-themed ones. They're not only limited to living rooms. They're also great for cottage interiors, family rooms, and sunrooms.

Cleaning stains off of denim-wrapped furniture is a bit harder, but this tip does work. Take baking soda and mix it with an even amount of water. Then, apply it to the stain before rinsing. If there are no stains, you can use a vacuum to remove pet hair and lint.

Leather

Leather is an excellent choice for keeping animal hair off sofas and cushion sets because of its hair-resistant property. Whether it's hair or fur, you can be sure that a few passes of the vacuum will have it cleaned.

Because of its aesthetic look, leather furniture covers can also also be high or more than one room in the house. But it does, however, come with a few drawbacks. For example, it can get easily scratched. If you don't know it yet, real leather is also mighty expensive.

If you have cats and leather furniture in one room, make sure you keep your cat's nails trimmed. You can also keep them off the furniture altogether. This is because as leather ages, it can develop a darker color in areas where it's usually occupied. But if that's not possible, another suggestion is to use denim as a covering.
