Here’s How to Eliminate Those Stubborn Household Stains

Stains are bound to happen, no matter how pristine your home looks right now. It's hard to prevent household stains despite your efforts to maintain a clean home-good thing you can do something to remove these stains before they become a permanent headache.

Red wine stains removal

This tip will work for you if you have red wine spills in your clothing, bedding, linens, and upholstery.

1. Use paper towels to dab the stain. Be careful not to rub it. Absorb as much liquid as possible. 

2. Spread a generous amount of salt over the stain.

3. Put club soda over the stained area. 

4. Leave it on for a few hours or even overnight to let the salt soak up the stain.

5. Vacuum or gently wipe the salt away.

6. If there are stains left, create a mixture of 1-part dishwashing liquid and three parts hydrogen peroxide. Pour it on the stained area and let it sit in. Repeat the process if needed. Use paper towels to blot it away when done.

Ink stain removal

You might think that ink stains are impossible to remove, but there's a remedy you can try to get rid of it. 

1. Use lacquer hair spray to soften the ink. Spray it onto the stain.

2. Blot it with a cloth. 

3. Repeat the steps above until the ink stain disappears. 

4. Wait for it to dry, then brush and vacuum the area to remove the hardened lacquer.

Other remedies include the use of nail polish remover. 


Removing coffee stains

Treating coffee stains is quite simple; just follow the steps below. 

1. Use a paper towel to blot as much coffee as possible. 

2. Put a small amount of cold water onto the stain then blot again using paper towels. Repeat until it has absorbed as much coffee as possible. 

3. Create a cleaning solution of 2 cups of warm water, one tablespoon of dish soap, and one tablespoon of vinegar. 

4. Use a towel to apply the cleaning solution to the stain.

5. Blot out the solution using a clean paper towel. 

6. If necessary, repeat steps 4 and 5. 

7. Rinse the affected area with a small amount of water. 

8. Remove the moisture by blotting the area using a clean towel. 


Grease stains removal

Grease stains can be really frustrating as they come in various products. You can use the steps below to get rid of grease stains. 

1. Cover the back of the stain with dish detergent.

2. Wait for a few minutes before rinsing it with hot water for 30 seconds.

3. If you are using colored dish soap, dilute it with water before applying it to the cloth. This is to prevent further staining the fabric with its color.

4. Use a paper towel to blow the affected area then launder it.
