'The Walking Dead' Town For Sale; 9 Buildings Up for Grabs

If you are looking for a great investment and one of the passionate fans of the the popular, multi-awarded and critically-acclaimed zombie-drama, "The Walking Dead", then news about the sale of a featured town in the hit series, as reported by CNN, should interest you.

According to Mail Online, Jim Sells, the former Mayor of the Grantville town in Georgia -- just about 40 miles from Atlanta, where the Walking Dead series was shot -- had listed 9 buildings for sale to interested parties on a popular auction site. It is now for sale on eBay for $680,000 but the former Mayor said that he would accept higher offers until next month.

With the show's unwavering popularity since 2010 -- consistently getting positive reviews and numerous awards from critics and fans alike -- it is expected that new owners will find the property a great buy. The sale not only gives die-hard fans a chance to own TWD town but it also opens an opportunity for investors to ride on the show's popularity and develop a compound that will use it just like how the show creators did.

Even up to this day, Grantville has been receiving excited tourists from various countries as far as Brazil, Australia and even Singapore according to Mail Online. Sells put up a "Walking Dead Tour," charging a few dollars to visitors for showing them some of the places where the series shot its scenes. This endeavor by Sells had been a great help to the town.

However, Jim Sells expressed that whoever the buyer would be, must keep the proud history of the town intact despite the new development. He would like this new endeavor to "thrive along with the town" as stated by The Hollywood Reporter. This means that someone willing to buy it must consider making it work for the community as well, because "The Walking Dead" surely did.

Even before "The Walking Dead", the historic town of Grantville -- with its charming infrastractures built in the 1880s and materials made of bricks -- has been a popular setting for movies like "The War" by Kevin Costner and even the comedy film "Dumb and Dumber" which starred Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels, as told by Jim Sells to ABC News

Until now, many movie-makers express their interest in shooting in the town like the horror flick, "The Ring 3" and the Tom Cruise starrer, "83 Days".

Currently, bidding for the 25,000 sq. ft. collective property is still on, and real estate investors may submit their offers until March 26, 2015 as reported by Mail Online.
