Actor Tom Cruise is set to return for the fifth installment of "Mission Impossible" but production has hit a major stag that has caused it to stop production, reported various sources.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, filming for the movie has taken a hiatus for a week or so while shooting in London because the ending of the film needs some work. "Mission: Impossible 5" director Christopher McQuarrie has been given additional time to improve the "unsatisfactory" ending with an identified writer-friend.
"Chris [McQuarrie], Tom [Cruise] and a third person wanted to take a minute to get from what they thought was a good place to a more perfect place," says this person, noting that if the studio had been really concerned, it would not have moved up the release date." wrote THR based on the tip of their source.
However, director McQuarrie slammed false reports by openly calling out THR over Twitter. After the news hit the web, Christopher took time out of his ending-writing schedule to give a shout out to THR through a Tweet.
A shout out to @thr live from set. #MI5Diary

He then followed up with a lengthier tweet which mentioned "the unknown writer" and THR that came with a photo:

According to ComingSoon.net, there is no truth to the reports and the film is proceeding with its original ending as written.
"Mission: Impossible 5" is set for release on July 31, originally moved up from a much later release date that was suppose to be during the Christmas holiday. The move shows the studio's high confidence in the director despite an insider's description of McQuarrie as "scrambling" to find an acceptable alternative ending.
MI5 stars Cruise who is joined by returning actors Jeremy Renner and Simon Pegg. The movie has been filming since August with the team traveling to film in various locations that include Morocco, England and Austria.
New franchise actors set to light up the silver screen include Simon McBurney, Sean Harris, Zhang Jingchu, Rebecca Ferguson and Alec Baldwin.
Tom Cruise -- playing the role of Ethan Hunt in the movies -- stars in the popular action franchise based on the classic TV series. The most recent film release for the series was "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol."
"Ghost Protocol" was released in 2011 and revolved around a plot that saw Hunt and his team who went rogue after the IMF was shut down. In order to prove their innocence and reinstate their organization, Hunt and his team went on a massive world-wide mission to clear the name of the IMF.
To date, no official trailer for the film has been released. "Mission: Impossible 5" is set to hit theaters July 31.
