'Captain America 3: Civil War' Trailer & News: Plot Rumor Reveals Major Character Death [Rumors]

There are a number of rumors surrounding the Marvel's upcoming "Captain America: Civil War." One rumor currently circulating is about the death of a major Marvel character.

According to WeGotThisCovered, "Civil War" is about the great divide between superheros in the debate surrounding the Superhuman Registration Act. In the original story, Captain Rogers/ Captain America (Chris Evans) dies but in the film, it's very possible that we would see a compromise and alteration of events. Seeing as how Captain America and Iron Man/ Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) are central characters in the debate as well as Marvel's overall mult-franchise plot, it's highly unlikely that one of the major film heroes will meet their demise in the film. So, if not the Marvel superheros, who could be an alternative?

In an earlier report, Realty Today noted that Samuel L. Jackson is approaching the end of his 9-film Marvel contract with many wondering what will happen to the character he plays, Nick Fury.

Since 2008, Jackson has appeared in a total of eight Marvel movies -- Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Thor, Captain America: The First Avenger, The Avengers, Captain America: The Winter Soldier and this summer's Avengers: Age of Ultron. With only two films left in his contract, "Avengers: Age of Ultron" being his eighth film, without a contract extension, we may see the end of Fury in "Captain America: Civil War" or the next Avengers installment, "Avengers: Infinity War," assessed various sources.

It's believed that Jackson will be part of the "Civil War" cast given the centrality that SHIELD plays in the plot and also in "Infinity War - Part 1" because of the massive call for characters needed in the movie.

With this in mind, could the end of Fury's life in Marvel films be happening soon? Fury, who faked his own death in the last Captain America film, is already in a sensitive position. Following the events in "The Winter Soldier" and his situation as a SHIELD leader, with the need for an emotional impact in the third Captain America film, it's possible that Fury will be mourned by the end of the "Civil War" movie.

Now, with no official confirmation, it's all speculation. Should director Fury makes it past "Civil War," in the next film, "Infinity War - Part 1," it's still possible Jackson's character could end his journey in the multi-superhero flick that is rumored to end with the Avengers going their separate ways.

No one really knows what plans Marvel has with its characters so while we think it's possible Fury could die, the character could also be planned for more films as the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to grow. As previously noted, Jackson, like many fans, is still holding out on the possibility of a stand alone film about the SHIELD leader. That's also still in the realm of possibilities with two films remaining.

Who do you think might die in the upcoming movie, "Captain America: Civil War" due out May 6, 2016?
